Who we are

ATCU is a Trade Union committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors and potential members to our web site. In particular, we want you to know that ATCU is not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other organisations for marketing purposes. We just don’t do that sort of thing. But just in case you don’t believe us, in this Privacy Policy, we’ve provided lots of detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure. Personal data submitted on this website will only be used for the purposes (or closely related purposes) that it was collected.

Google Analytics

When someone visits  we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

First Capital Connect

We also use a third party service, First Capital Connect who operates our direct debit subscription service. A copy of their Private Policy can be found by going to First Capital Connect website.

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our e-newsletter and post mailings, we collect personal information. We use that information for several reasons:

1. the administration and management of your membership records

2. to provide you with information about ATCU’s activities, campaigns and  benefits 

3. to notify you of changes to our services and benefits 

4. to conduct elections and ballots

5. in the context of providing you with support, advice or representation in any personal case

6. to comply with any laws or regulations

7. for other trade union related purposes or objects, including those set in the Union’s rule book 

By joining ATCU you should understand that we may use some or all of the personal data you have provided for the above purposes. 

Reference to personal data may include any information which directly or indirectly identifies you. This may include: your name, address, contact details, date of birth, National Insurance number, and employment details including records held by us in the process of representation.

The personal data you supply to us will be held predominately in electronic format and secondly by the way of manual format. 

ATCU use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver the Union’s newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see

Sharing of information

We may disclose information about you to ATCU’s Regional Organisers officers, staff, branch officials, workplace representatives or agents, insofar as reasonably necessary for the purposes as set out in this privacy policy.  

ATCU  will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information to any third party unless they are processing data on the union’s behalf, we have your permission, or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.

We do not share anonymised personal information with other organisations.
