Goodbye ATOC and hello RDG
A railway industry organisation created just after privatisation and which has played a key role for more than 20 years has disappeared.
The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) was set up in June 1995, several months before the first franchises were awarded, but it has now been merged with Rail Delivery Group (RDG) as of 24 October 2016.
ATOC has worked alongside with the RDG since it was established in 2011 but the reform for change came after feedback from stakeholders, members and staff.
The RDG has also emphasised the changeover by launching a new logo.
As some critical commentators observe, “why not just abandon the pointless RDG and let ATOC get on with the job it has done for years, but without the hype”?
